Safety
Firearm safety is the foundation of all training conducted here.
Every drill, adjustment, and round fired is governed by clear safety standards designed to protect students, instructors, and the range.
This page outlines the expectations and procedures required before participating in any precision rifle training.
Core Firearm Safety Standards
All shooters are expected to understand and follow fundamental safety rules at all times.
Failure to do so may result in removal from the firing line.
- Treat every firearm as if it is loaded
- Never allow the muzzle to cover/point at anything you are not willing to destroy
- Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot
- Be sure of your target and what is beyond it
Range Procedures
Clear communication and predictable actions keep everyone safe.
Range commands must be followed immediately and without debate.
- Actions open and chambers clear when required
- Rifles grounded or benched during cold range periods
- No handling firearms during cease fire
- Eye and ear protection worn on the firing line
Equipment and Handling
Safe equipment handling extends beyond live fire.
Mounting optics, checking torque, and making adjustments must be done with the rifle unloaded.
Review proper setup procedures on
Rifle Setup
before attending training.
Environmental Awareness
Wind, terrain, and weather affect safety as well as shooting performance.
Muzzle direction, backstops, and target placement must always be considered.
Environmental data collection is covered during
Range Work & Data Collection.
